Carling Municipal Election 2026

There is no polling station this year. You vote online or by telephone.

Carling is running the October 2026 election on internet and telephone voting. That system replaces traditional in-person polling stations, and removes advance polls and voting by proxy. If you are used to walking into a polling place on election day, this year works differently — and it is worth reading once now rather than at 7:50 p.m. on the 26th.

Voting opens
Wednesday
October 14
at 10:00 a.m.
Voting closes
Monday
October 26
at 8:00 p.m. — voting day
You need
Your PIN
+ birthdate
The PIN is mailed to you by the Township.

Between those two moments you can vote from anywhere you can reach the internet or a telephone. You do not have to be in Carling, or in the country. That matters here: a large share of our ratepayers are seasonal or on islands, and in past elections getting to a polling station was the whole obstacle.

How it works, step by step

01
Watch the mail for your PIN

The Township mails a voter PIN to every eligible elector. It is the only thing that lets you open your ballot, so put it somewhere you will find it in late October.

02
No PIN? Ask for one

If you believe you qualify to vote and no PIN arrived, contact the Township office in person, at Election@carling.ca, or by phone at 705-342-5856. Do this early — not on voting day.

03
Vote with your PIN and date of birth

Those two pieces together open your ballot, online or over the telephone. Anytime from 10:00 a.m. on October 14 to 8:00 p.m. on October 26.

04
Need a hand? The office has a station

The Township sets up a telephone and a computer at the office, with staff on hand to help you vote or answer questions. Hours are below.

Voter Help Centre — hours
October 14 – 23, weekdays8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Mon. October 26 — voting day8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Township office, 2 Carling Bay Road West. The doors open at 8:00 a.m. on the 14th, but voting itself does not begin until 10:00 that morning. Telephones and internet access are provided on site, along with election officials, support persons and interpreters for anyone who needs help voting. If you have no device, no service, or would simply rather not do this alone, that room exists for you.

These are the Township's own election contacts, not the campaign's. For questions about the ballot, your PIN or your eligibility, they are the right people to ask.

Twelve days, from anywhere, with a PIN and your birthdate. There is no queue and no drive. The only way to be shut out of this one is to not know the dates — so tell a neighbour.

Dates, hours, PIN process and contacts on this page are the Township of Carling's own published election information. Confirm anything time-sensitive at carling.ca or with the Township office.
